Residency & Work Exchange
From planting time to harvest season, we warmly welcome kindred spirits who are passionate about land stewardship, homesteading skills and personal growth to join us for short-term and extended residency opportunities.
Short-term Residency
Each spring and harvest season, we invite up to 8 people to join us for week-long residencies. These work-exchange opportunities are free to attend, making them a great way to come enjoy a personal retreat at Sky Meadow in exchange for much-appreciated help tending this special land. We typically work together as a group for 4-6 hours each day, with plenty of free time left over to rest and relax, connect with other residents, explore the grounds, and deepen into personal goals and projects. Here are the short-term residencies currently available:

August 2026 – exact dates TBD
Harvest Residency
Seeking up to 8 residents for this free work-exchange week as we work together to bring in the garden’s bounty and prepare the homestead for the coming winter. Soak up the Vermont harvest season, learn practical skills and connect with like-minded individuals in a relaxed setting.
Extended Residency
During the summer and early fall, we welcome scholars, artists, researchers, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to combine daily gardening and practical skill-building with dedicated time and space to focus on personal projects in a tranquil retreat setting. Ideal for individuals or couples, residencies are collaboratively designed around residents’ unique skills and goals. You can expect about 3-4 hours a day of working the land, either solo or on small group tasks, with the remaining time free to dedicate to whatever it is that you’re currently working on.
Extended residents typically stay from 3-6 weeks and reside in the Pond House, an airy and rustic cabin that’s quintessentially “Vermont.” It comes fully equipped to unleash your inner Thoreau with a spacious living area, a kitchenette with a 2-burner stove and sink, a sleeping loft with a double bed, a writing nook overlooking the gardens, a sweet little front porch, a woodstove for chilly nights, and a sawdust composting toilet. (For showers and laundry, residents will also have the use of the lower barn bathroom.)
Apply for Extended Residency
Please share a bit more about yourself, how you found us, what interests you in joining us for a residency, when you would like to stay, and any relevant skills and particular goals you have for your time here.
Extended residency spots are limited and applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Those with “handy” skills and/or previous gardening experience are especially encouraged to apply. We look forward to hearing from you!
